January: Jumping Back In

Happy New Year!
Hope your holidays were delightful.
One of my 2008 goals is to blog at least once a month. This is cutting back from last year's goal of blogging once a week, but as I learned toward the end of the year, life has a way of taking precedence.
So here's the January Blog. I essentially took a holiday hiatus from writing. It's crazy trying to accomplish anything when there's so many activities going on. Rather than make myself crazy, I put the creativity on the back burner and went with the flow.
Now the holidays are over, and I'm back! My critique group and I have taken over the Career Development Committee of my local RWA chapter. We're having a blast prepping everything, and we sincerely hope our fellow chapmates learn a lot of good things from the slate of scheduled speakers.
I'm getting ready to participate in a Book-In-A-Week challenge -- the first one in a year or so. My RWA chapter holds a monthly challenge -- set some goals that will be a stretch for you, then spend 8 days trying to make that goal. It seems to work really well when its done in a group setting.
On another note, my friend Yasmine Phoenix discovered a worm on her blog, so I've removed the link until such time her blog is deloused.
I've been busy putting together a two-volume sound track for my new book. I just finished burning the final CD and can't wait to throw it on the mp3 player while I'm writing. I'm excited about my new project, too. I sent a rough synopsis to my agent before the holidays. I hope to speak with her soon and send off the first three chapters. Oh, and I'm considering entering the first chapter in a contest, just for the feedback.
On the family front: both X & Y Chromo are performing in their high school production of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Keeps us busy, for sure, but it could be worse. I'm paying for voice lessons, not lawyers.
Unless something MAJOR breaks on the writing front, I'll see you in February! Thanks for stopping by.
