Why make yourself crazy in order to relax? Just -- relax. That's not to say that I didn't thoroughly enjoy myself at "critique" the other night.

Christmas Cactus has us over to her house. Holiday music played, her tree glowed delightfully, there was wonderful food, beverages, and friendship. I don't understand why we have to wait for mid-December to create a relaxing ambience with friends and family. Only to make it special? Friends and family should be special every single day.But I digress.
There are things I like about late December. Snow (and we had far too much of that in the past week or so) is not one of those things.
- I like that any day now, the dark hours will begin to recede, and in another month or so, I won't be coming home in full darkness.
- I like thinking about what I accomplished in the past year, and what goals I can set for myself for the coming year.
However, I believe "New Years" should be in September.
This year, my RWA chapter's Book-in-a-Week for December begins on 12/21/08. I don't know what the BIAW Bombshells were thinking when they picked that week, but I love them for it.
My shared stint of Career Development Committee for my RWA chapter is over. We were also the Rose Queens this year, and that ate hours of writing time. I am cutting back on my volunteering for the chapter this year in order to focus on my writing.
Goal 2009: Give my agent something she can sell.
