Where has the year flown? Seems like yesterday I was setting my goals for 2008. Now I'm getting ready to say goodbye to the same.
Y-Chromo is home for Thanksgiving, the first time we've seen him since we dropped him off at college in August. He looks different. Maybe because he needs a haircut. It's on the list.
I've made my squash casserole to take to my folks' for Turkey Day. The house smells yummy.
The other day, Y-Chromo text-messaged me to tell me that he'd "b-s'd" a paper for a class he doesn't like much . . . and he got an A on it. He was thrilled. A co-worker said, "He must get the writing from you."
True, but he also gets it from TV Stevie, who is an award-winning television writer producer. The mathiness definitely is a TV Stevie gene, but the writing comes from both sides of the family, kind of like my Irish blood.
My writing is coming along, altho' this week I'm bogged down with the year-end awards ceremony for my local RWA chapter. I love doing it, but it does steal writing time.
And this week, I came up with the first few lines of my next book. My PHriends think it's pretty good. One of them even went so far as to link a (soon-to-be) dead character from my current WIP with the dead character in the opening scene of the next book. But this isn't a ghost story. I'm not sure what it is, but I love that buzz, that anxiousness to delve into a new story, meet and develop new characters. But no more on the next one until the current one is DONE.
