A Room of My Own

I keep trying to clean my "office" and create a welcoming space, but it never seems to get done. I want a sanctuary, where I can completely lock out the rest of the world; a space where I can delight my senses with light, color, scented candles and pot pourri, great music (whatever fits my mood at the moment) in the background, solitude, and solace. A place to curl up whenever life gets to be too much.
I would love just such a place, where I can sip flavored teas at night, sit in a rocking chair at the window and watch the moon throw silver shadows on the snow or lose myself in the stars; where the sun filters through the crystals in the windows, tossing rainbows everywhere, like a Janet Fish painting. No telephone, no television; just the things I need to thrive.
What's your dream space? What's in it? Is is saturated with color like a Sara Eyestone poster or is it austere so your imagination can decorate the walls? Is it spare or filled with things to delight you?

Great post! My dream space looks a lot like Jenny Crusie's. A big picture window overlooking a woodland frolicing with deer, a Bose sound system playing my fave music at the time. I butler in a Speedo (ok, maybe a bit much, but he will look like Antonio Banderas) waiting to be at my beck and call...I gotta go...sudden urge to write a love scene... :)

Oh! I forgot the butler! Antonio would work fine. And then there's always Sven the Cabana Boy . . .

I tried to post yesterday and the evil blogger ate my wonderful description of my room. So, I'll post a much shorter response today and just say that your room sounds lovely. The only thing I'd add to what you and Nancy have said is a magic computer that makes me create as soon as I sit in front of it, one that poo-poos writer's block and pulls the words from me and places them on the screen. Short of that, a room free of clutter with a big comfy chair in the corner and nice soothing earth tones would be lovely. --Gwyneth
